Special low-loader with wheel recesses for transporting agricultural machinery

When transporting agricultural machinery, a low vehicle height, low unladen weight and high payload are key factors. Fliegl has a three-axle semi-trailer in its range that is ideally suited to the transport of agricultural machinery.

Up to three tractors at a time, forage harvesters, threshers or other attachments – the SDS 410 Maxi three-axle semi-low-loader with wheel recesses is the ideal trailer for transporting agricultural machinery. The low-loader’s outer frame profile is reinforced in the low bed and across the axles towards the outer frame, making it suitable for heavy construction and agricultural machinery with a gross vehicle weight of up to 22,000 kilograms.

Low-bed with extremely low loading height

The lowered low-bed in front of the axles is slightly sloped for easy access and exit and fitted with climbing rails. Between the A and B axles there is a pair of wheel recesses approximately 450 millimetres deep and around 800 millimetres long at the bottom; the wheel recess covers with steel inserts can be removed. Thanks to the extremely low loading height in the low-bed section and the wheel recesses of just 400 millimetres, and a loading height above the axles of just 900 millimetres, the SDS 410 Maxi can also transport tall implements and tractors. The main frame is drawn particularly low to allow vehicles with attachments to drive onto the trailer without scraping.

Dozens of load-securing options on board

To ensure the load reaches its destination safely, the SDS 410 Maxi offers a wide range of load-securing options: tension straps can be hooked into the perforated outer frame at intervals of approximately 35 centimetres, resulting in a large number of possible attachment points. In addition, there are 8 lashing holes in the outer frame, each with a 5-tonne load capacity, and 16 lashing lugs at the top and sides of the outer frame, each with a 10-tonne load capacity; these are complemented by 24 lashing eyes with a 5-tonne load capacity, which are also recessed into the outer frame. Twelve folding lashing eyes, each with a load capacity of 10 tonnes, complete the package. Lashing straps or chains are stored in the three storage boxes when not in use.

Long rear ramp with a shallow approach angle

For machines with low ground clearance, the trailer features a long rear ramp with a low approach angle. There is an additional wheel recess in the rear ramp. The mounting rail at the rear for the aluminium ramps extends across the entire width of the vehicle; the 2,400-millimetre-long and 450-millimetre-wide rear ramps offer a load capacity of 24,000 kilograms per pair. The aluminium ramps for driving onto the gooseneck can carry 8,000 kilograms per pair.

Relief and steering axles facilitate transport

The first axle is designed as a load-relief axle. Up to a speed of 25 km/h and an axle load exceeding 30%, the axle can be raised (also operable from the truck) to shift more weight onto the fifth wheel plate – this ensures greater traction on the drive axles. To ensure good manoeuvrability, the rear axle is self-steering with an automatic reverse lock via the reversing light; additionally, the lock function can be activated via a manual button on the vehicle. To prevent the gross vehicle weight from being accidentally exceeded, an axle load detection system with a display in the cab is fitted, which receives data from the EBS CAN bus signal. The Trailer Infocenter also displays further vehicle data, such as the mileage in addition to the axle load.

As is standard with Fliegl, all axles are precisely measured and adjusted by laser at the factory, ensuring low tyre wear and reduced fuel consumption.

Comprehensive LED lighting package

The comprehensive LED package consists of multi-chamber rear lights, side marker lights, position lights and lane-keeping lights. The warning panels, which extend to a width of three metres, are double LED-illuminated; each of the removable warning panels also features a rotating beacon mount, with the rotating beacon included as standard. Two LED work lights at the rear and one each on the right and left sides at the front of the low-loader ensure a well-lit working environment at all times.

In order to apply for the special permit required for certain transports under Section 70 of the German Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), a combined vehicle certificate is issued when the trailer is collected in Triptis with the corresponding towing vehicle.

Fliegl offers a 10-year warranty against rust-through on the novagrau-painted frame.
